Hennie ten Dam is the captain of the expedition vessel Pooh.
and owner of the adventurous touroperator Expedition Sailing.
Previously,
he worked at the Dutch Marine Corps as long-range maritime reconnaissance operator
and counter-terrorism specialist. Born adventurer, diver, balloon pilot and sailing autodidact.
In a self-built wooden sailing yacht of 22ft he made many solo sailing trips over the Bay of Biscay
to northern Spain.
The desire to sail  further resulted in the Builder of a 36ft steel yacht.
Where with great regularity,He did long single-handed sailing voyages.
In 1997/98 he sailed, solo across the Atlantic to the Caribbean.
2000 he started building his own design, the 60ft aluminum expedition sailing vessel POOH.
With this he made several sailing expeditions including the Gambia river
over 125 miles up river.
Known from Alex Haley's book Roots. Followed by a fast ocean crossing to the Caribbean.
Hennie is 25 years deeply involved in the Dutch sailing magazine"ZEILEN"
Where he served as editorial member, test and evaluate new yachts.
His best known articles are "building a 60ft, for the price of a 40ft" and " Expedition Gambian river "
And he has more than ten thousands miles experience on the oceans to his account..
